This is a very sweet Victorian coin purse made of a tightly crocheted pouch in deep red. It features beautiful steel cut beads and an ornately carved hinged lid. The lid may be silver plated. It has darkened with age. To open it, you press a little button on the edge of the frame. These little bags were popular in the Victorian and Art Deco eras, from the 1890s - 1920s.
This would be a lovely gift for a purse collector or antique afficianado.
This bag is in good condition, but does have two two tassels missing. The crocheted pouch has no flaws. I do not see any missing beads. The edge of the frame shows wear and the silver finish has worn off in places.
It measures 4" long and has a diameer of 2 1/8".
