Ukrainian-Russian Baronovsky Porcelain Gilded Mineral Water Mug/Therapeutic Feeder with a Nose tail. Listed as 1956.
Many mineral spring spas offered therapeutic water, & these porcelain “sippy cups” were used in Europe. The Ukrainian Baronovky Porcelain Factory in the Truskavets area was known for centuries for their healing, salt mineral water. These spa areas were called “Pump Rooms.”
A “pump room” at a mineral spring is a building/room where medicinal waters are pumped from the ground, where patrons can drink it. In the 18 & 19th Century, these spaces also served as elegant social gathering places for polite conversation & mingling.
As for the ailing, it was used to prevent spills with medicine administration.
This porcelain features a lovely orange & gold floral motif. Today it’s used as decor -such as a vase.
In great condition, no chips or cracks.
Don’t sip from w/o cleaning.
